Srinagar, Dec 29: Jammu & Kashmir Chief of GSPFP flagged off the UT Sqay Martial Art contingent from the Tourist Reception Centre here for their participation in the 23rd National Sqay Championship.
The contingent comprising 100 boys and girls will represent Jammu & Kashmir in the championship commencing on December 30 (Friday) at Sports Complex Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu.
Before flagging off, the chief guest while speaking on the occasion appreciated the efforts of the Jammu & Kashmir Sqay Association for engaging youth in sports activities, saying that learning of self defense skills by the girls is the need of the hour. “I am hopeful that Jammu & Kashmir will shine in the national championship and will bring more medals for the Union Territory,” he said.
More than 1000 Sqay Martial Art players from all across the country are part of the championship.
It is pertinent to mention that the national championship is organized by the Sqay Federation of India and hosted by Jammu & Kashmir Sqay Association. Elaborate arrangements have been put in place to make this event a grand success.
