J&K UT level carrom championship starts in Srinagar

Srinagar, Sep 28: The 3rd J&K UT level carrom championship in cadet, sub-junior, junior, and senior for boys and girls, men and women sections started Wednesday at Sports Hall, Indoor Stadium, Polo Ground, Srinagar.
As per the officials the championship was declared open by Zeeshan Khan (JKAS), Assistant Director Tourism Kashmir.
Adil Rashid Shah, general secretary, Arif Sultan Secretary, Dawar Rashid Member J&K Carrom Association, Adfar Jan Organizing Secretary of the Championship and other officials of the association were also present on the occasion.
Organizing secretary of the event Adfar Jan, welcomed participants and officials on the occasion and extended best wishes to the participants and emphasized on taking part in these kinds of events.
Jan, while informing Rising Kashmir about the said championship, said they have received around 240 entries from across Jammu and Kashmir and around 98 matches were played on the inaugural day of the championship.
“The tournament was open for the districts where district level tournaments were not held and no entry was accepted from the players where we conducted district level tournaments,” she said.
In the senior men’s section, Nasir Khan defeated Wahid Lone, NazimFayaz defeated NadeemShafi, HaroonParray defeated AtharShakeel, Danish Shafi defeated Abbas Ali, and Rameez Ahmad Defeated Fardeen.
While in the women’s senior section, QazimaKhursheed defeated TousiaAltaf, MunazahHussain defeated Tabish Ashraf, Sumera Jan defeated Ulfat, and AnzalnaRafiq defeated RaziaRiyaz.
AbidHilal defeated Uzair, Naseer defeated Bazil, Zaid defeated Haroon, and NumanShabir defeated ZahidManzoor in the junior boy’s category. While in the junior girl’s category, Muntazir defeated Adfar Jan, Sumaira Jan defeated SaqibaJavid, and Insha Hameed defeated Rabia.
