Jammu, Feb 24: The State Taxes Department (STD) of Jammu and Kashmir has intensified its en-forcement drive against tax evasion, sale suppression, and fraudulent invoicing across the Jammu division. Specially constituted enforcement teams, under the guidance of Commissioner State Taxes J&K, P.K. Bhat, and the supervision of Additional Commissioner (Enforcement and Administration) Jammu, Namrita Dogra, have been conducting inspection drives at various business establishments.
Utilising advanced AI tools such as Business Intelligence and Fraud Analytics (BIFA) and the E-Way Bills Portal, the enforcement teams have targeted businesses in Vijaypur, Samba, R.S. Pura, Jammu (Central), Sunderbani, Rajouri, Kishtwar, Lakhanpur, Kathua, Banihal, Ramban, and Udhampur over the past week. The inspections aim to detect violations under GST law, including discrepancies in documentation, physical stock, and billing records.
“Thirteen enforcement teams have been deployed to identify and take action against dealers in-volved in sale suppression and fake invoicing,” stated Additional Commissioner Namrita Dogra. The department has urged all dealers to adhere to fair trade practices, maintain accurate invoices, and report their actual sales to ensure compliance with GST regulations.
The State Taxes Department also appealed to taxpayers to conduct invoice-based transactions and pay their due GST in a timely manner to avoid penalties and enforcement actions. The ongoing crack-down serves as a strong warning against fraudulent practices that disrupt fair business competition and revenue collection.
