Kathua, Oct 06: In an exhilarating conclusion to the District Kathua Softball Championship 2024-25, JK Public School lifted the Boys’ title, while Delhi Public School (DPS) Kathua emerged victorious in the Girls’ category. The championship, organized by the District Kathua Softball Association in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council under the auspices of the J&K Softball Association, was held at DPS Kathua on Sunday.
The closing ceremony saw Sandeep Sharma, Physical Director of Government Degree College, Kathua, as the Chief Guest. Mrs. Charu Andotra, Principal of Mount Litera School, graced the event as the Guest of Honour, alongside Mrs. Gurpreet Kour, Coordinator, who was present as the Special Guest. The event was supervised by renowned softball athletes Ajay Singh Salathia and Jasbeer Singh, a certified National Umpire.
Speaking at the event, Sandeep Sharma praised the organizers for hosting the championship in a highly professional manner. He encouraged athletes to continue their hard work, highlighting that softball is included in the sports quota of the Jammu & Kashmir government, offering promising opportunities for players.
Sharma also lauded the efforts of Ms. Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, for her role in promoting sports across the Union Territory. He stressed the importance of utilizing the modern facilities provided by the Sports Council to nurture athletic talent.
In addition to thanking the staff and participants, Sharma distributed medals and trophies to the winning and runner-up teams, as well as the third-place finishers. Mementos were also presented to the guests and officials from various schools and clubs.
