Baramulla , Sept  11: In view of the General Assembly Elections 2024, District Election Officer (DEO) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa Wednesday held an interactive session with all the Sector/Zonal Magistrates of the district at Dak Bungalow, here.

During the session, the DEO emphasized the critical role that Sector and Zonal Magistrates play in the electoral process, particularly in ensuring that all pre-poll responsibilities like verification of polling stations, identification of route maps and other crucial duties are diligently fulfilled.

Minga Sherpa directed the designated Zonal/Sector officers to visit the designated polling stations in their zones to inspect the facilities and ensure that all Assured Minimum Facilities (AMFs), including safe drinking water, sanitation facilities, ramps, and other arrangements, are in place for the convenience of voters and polling staff.

Meanwhile, the DEO highlighted the role of Zonal/Sectoral officers on the day of the poll in assisting polling parties, replacing EVMs and VVPATs if required, sending various reports to the Returning Officers from time to time including voter turnout and incidents, ensuring the return of polling parties along with EVMs and VVPATs as per the prescribed movement plan etc.

He further instructed the magistrates to work in close coordination with the district election office to promptly resolve any issues that may arise in the run-up to the elections.

The session was attended by the Deputy District Election Officer, Baramulla, Abdul Rahman, designated Zonal/Sector magistrates, and other officers involved in the conduct of Assembly Elections in district Baramulla.
