Srinagar, June 28: Jammu and Kashmir politicians have extended warm greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, and prayed for peace, progress and prosperity in the union territory.
Dr Farooq Abdullah
In a statement, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference president and Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah, party’s vice president Omar Abdullah and all other NC leaders extended greeted the people on Eid.
In his message, Dr Farooq said, “As the Muslim Ummah unites to observe Eid-ul-Adha, I take this opportunity to extend my warm greetings to everyone on the blessed and auspicious occasion. The auspicious day commemorates the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son, Hazrat Ismail (AS) in the way of the Almighty. The all-merciful Almighty however spared Hazrat Ismail (AS) by staying in Hazrat Ibrahim’s hand and placing a ram in his place. Hence, the day is reminiscent of the greatest sacrifice in the history of mankind.”
“On this day, it is imperative for all of us to prioritize the poor and deserving by doing everything possible to bring smiles on their faces. The core philosophy of the day evokes deep concern for the needy and offers us a window of opportunity to alleviate the plight of the poor and destitute and imbue ourselves with the spirit of compassion, generosity, empathy and care. May the day provide relief to the beleaguered people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and rid them of all the tribulations and problems they are facing,” he said.
Omar Abdullah
While extending warm felicitations to the people, Omar Abdullah said, “At the very beginning, I wish Eid Mubarak to all. The auspicious day of Eid Al Azha stresses on the need for equality of mankind, God-consciousness, generosity, almsgiving and peaceful coexistence of the entire humankind. The divinely inspired sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and the obedience of his son Hazrat Ismail (AS) have immortalized the day till eternity. I hope and pray that the day strengthens the cord of brotherhood between the different communities in J&K and Ladakh. I also hope that the day acts as a harbinger of healthier times and much-needed peace and stability to the entire region.”
Party General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Additional General Secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani Sogami, Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, and senior leaders also greeted the people on the auspicious occasion.
Mehbooba Mufti
People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti in her Eid message, reminded people of the “real essence of Eid” and said, “The day demanded to remember the poor and needy and share the happiness with them.”
She said, “The spirit behind the observance of Eid-ul-Adha is to show the real sacrifice which teaches us Ismail (As) the son of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) so our thanks to Almighty Allah for all the blessings.” She expressed hope that Eid would bring peace, prosperity and well-being to the people of Jammu & Kashmir and the rest of the country.
Ghulam Nabi Azad
Chairman Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) Ghulam Nabi Azad while greeting the people on the ‘Festival of Sacrifice’ wished all a blessed celebration. “No words or wishes can match the amount of sacrifices Prophet Ibrahim (AS) made in obedience and submission to Almighty Allah and Eid-ul-Adha commemorates the auspicious and momentous occasion. Let us all pledge to uphold values of humanity and universal brotherhood and pray for acceptance of our wishes and aspirations,” he said.
Seeking divine intervention in fostering peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir, Azad reminded the people to remember the orphans and destitute who crave for attention and support on such holy occasions and celebrations.
Altaf Bukhari
Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari in his Eid message urged everyone to generously share their happiness and blessings with those who are less fortunate and in need. He also requested the people to pray for J&K’s peace and prosperity on this revered occasion.
“I extend greetings to people on this revered occasion of Eid al-Adha, also known as the festival of sacrifices, which commemorates the unwavering devotion of Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) to Almighty Allah. Also, this day has great significance as it marks the peak of the Hajj pilgrimage. May this auspicious day and its celebrations bring peace, harmony, communal brotherhood, and prosperity to our region and its people.”
Sajad Lone
Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference (JKPC) president Sajad Gani Lone in his felicitation message said, “Eid ul Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, holds immense cultural and religious significance for Muslims around the world, including the people of Jammu and Kashmir. As we come together to celebrate this sacred festival, I extend my warmest greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, irrespective of their faith or background.”
During this time of reflection and devotion, Lone highlighted the importance of embracing the values of Eid-ul-Adha, “which emphasizes compassion, generosity, and the well-being of all members of society”. He called upon the people of Jammu and Kashmir to extend a helping hand to those in need and foster a sense of togetherness within communities.
The PC chief urged the people to come together as a united community, fostering peace, harmony, and understanding among all its residents. “We must stand united against all forms of discrimination, violence, and divisiveness, working towards a prosperous and inclusive Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
Ghulam Ahmad Mir
Former Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Ghulam Ahmad Mir extended heartfelt greetings to people on the eve of Eid-ul-Adha and prayed for their wellbeing. In his message, Mir termed the occasion of sacrifices as a torchbearer and inspirational for all the generations to come while refreshing the memories of the unique sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) to please Almighty Allah.
“The auspicious occasion teaches us to be patient and kind to everyone in society irrespective of caste or colour and adopt the path of peace and truthfulness which happens to be a louder message of Eid-ul-Adha. I sincerely pray that the festival brings prosperity and happiness and ushers in an era of peace, progress and development in the country and in J&K.”
The JKPCC leader said the government must ensure adequate facilities for the public, especially the availability of electricity, and rations. He also urged that the salaries of employees and financial assistance of old-aged, widows and others be released on a priority basis.
Hakeem Yaseen
Chairman People’s Democratic Front (PDF) and former minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen in his Eid greetings said the occasion imbibes the sacred values of obedience, sacrifice and compassion as exhibited by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his son Hazrat Ismail (AS) to honour the will of Almighty Allah.
He prayed that the auspicious occasion may prove a harbinger of lasting peace and prosperity for Jammu and Kashmir.

J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) general secretary Surinder Singh Channi has greeted people on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. In his message, Channi termed the festival as a “symbol of supreme sacrifices of Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) who even offered the sacrifices of his son Hazrat Ismail (AS) to please Almighty Allah”.
“The auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha is unique, teaching us to be kind and serve humanity,” the Congress leader said. He hoped that the occasion will be the harbinger of peace, stability and prosperity in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
Abdul Gani Vakil
Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference senior vice president and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil in his Eid message said “Eid embeds the message of remembering economically downtrodden and underprivileged people.” He appealed to the people to make them the part of Eid celebration by extending financial and other support to them. Vakil also urged the people to avoid wastage of food and resources and be conscious towards their neighbours, orphans and the needy.
