Awantipora, Sept 07: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police in Awantipora have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
According to a statement issued here, A Police team of Police Station Awantipora under the supervision of SHO Police Station Awantipora at a checkpoint established at Udipora Y Band NH-44 intercepted a suspicious person identified as Mehraj -ud-din Ganie son of Gh. Mohd Ganie resident of Kranchoo Pampore A/P New Colony Lethpora. During search, officers were able to recover 0.86 grams of Heroin-like substance from his possession. He has been arrested and a case vide FIR Number 189/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation has been initiated.
Police urge the common masses to share information regarding narcotics or any other crimes to the nearest police establishment or dial 112. General Public is requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per the law.
