Jammu, Feb 26: In the Maharashtra International Trade Expo (MITEX), the Jammu & Kashmir Pavilion generated a sale of more than Rs 50 lakh with over 1,200 sales orders and more than 2000 business leads for exhibitors of the Union Territory.
“This has not only helped sellers to generate on-spot sales but also helped the sellers to get leads and orders for future business,” said the Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) which under the aegis of the Department of Industries and Commerce participated in MITEX organized by Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (MACCIA) at Mumbai.
The JKTPO on the directions of Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Prashant Goyal and under the overall supervision of Managing Director JKTPO, Khalid Jahangir, set up a pavilion in MITEX with more than 30 exhibitors from diverse sectors from the UT of Jammu 7 Kashmir, which was among major attractions of the event. The pavilion attracted a huge footfall of visitors, especially during weekends.
Besides women entrepreneurs, exporters, handicraft and handloom artisans, weavers, societies, PSUs of the Industries and Commerce department, and J&K Handicraft and Handloom Corporation also showcased their unique and wide range of products during the event.
Major products which remained high in demand during the event were carpets, pashmina shawls, crewel shawls, sozni works, saffron, walnut, raj mash, honey, spices, etc. The GI-tagged saffron, silk carpets, pashmina and ODOP products of J&K were among the major attractions.
The JKTPO is providing both physical and virtual e-commerce marketing platforms to entrepreneurs of Jammu & Kashmir at the national and international levels. Initiatives like participation in trade fairs, exhibitions, and onboarding drive on GeM, ONDC and other e-commerce platforms by providing easy access to both domestic and international markets.
In line with its continued endeavour to provide market linkage to sellers and notable products of Jammu and Kashmir, the JKTPO during the current week is organizing an International Buyer Seller Meet at SKICC, Srinagar on March 1 for the Agri and Food Processing sector where more than 60 buyers of agro and food processing products from more than 15 countries will participate and more than 100 J&K sellers will exhibit their products.
