Srinagar, July 03: In a triumphant moment for Jammu and Kashmir’s judo community, the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council (JKSC) concluded its rigorous selection trials and screening process, forming a formidable 19-member judo team. The team, consisting of eight boys, eight girls, two coaches, and one manager, is now all set to participate in the highly anticipated National Championship scheduled to take place at the prestigious Indian Institute of Sports (IIS) in Karnataka from July 5th to 10th, 2023.
The departure of the Jammu and Kashmir Judo team for the national championship was marked by a special event attended by esteemed guests, including Ashok Singh, Divisional Sports Officer; Suraj Bhan Singh, Manager; Vikas Gupta, Senior Vice-President; and Suraj Sharma, General Secretary of the Judo Association Jammu and Kashmir.
The selected judokas who will represent Jammu and Kashmir in the national championship include Sumit Lal, Adnan Fayaz Bhat, Atul Sharma, Arihaant Mahajan, Vipul Yashovardhan, M Hadi, Mohsin Hamid Malla, Abdul Hannan Shagoo, Fiza Akhter, Manvi Devi, Adn Arshad, Nandini Chib, Zainab Binti Ajaz, Hidaya Shahid, Anshika Sharma, and Tanvi Thakur. Accompanying the team as coaches and manager are Arshi Nad, Jugal Kishore, and Manish Chatwal, respectively.
The Vice-President of J&K Judo Association, Abdul Hamid Khan, the Joint Secretary of J&K Judo Association, Gowher Khan, Shafkat Shafi, NIS Senior Judo coach, and other office bearers of the association extended their heartfelt congratulations to all the players and coaches. They also wished them the very best of luck for their participation in the highly competitive National Championship.
