Srinagar,Jan 15: In a significant update on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Manoj Pande delivered a comprehensive address during the Army Day parade in Lucknow. The COAS, while asserting control over the overall scenario in the region, drew attention to an alarming increase in terrorist activities, specifically in the southern areas of Pir Panjal and Rajouri-Poonch over the past months.
Acknowledging the dedicated efforts of security personnel, General Pande highlighted their pivotal role in achieving a noteworthy reduction in violence within the interior regions of Jammu and Kashmir. Despite a declared ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC), the COAS pointed out persistent attempts to infiltrate, underscoring the existence of intact terror infrastructure across the border.
Assuring the nation of the Army’s preparedness, General Pande emphasized their commitment to handling any situation on the northern borders. He credited proactive government policies for restoring peace, singling out the improved situation in Manipur. The COAS praised the soldiers for their maturity in navigating sensitive environments and their relentless efforts to establish peace in the state.
In a resolute statement, General Pande asserted, “We are committed to working with all stakeholders to eradicate the terror network in the country.” He outlined concrete steps being taken to enhance capabilities, including the emergency procurement of modern equipment and the development of critical infrastructure in border areas.
