Srinagar, Feb 15 : Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday said that the 2025-26 Union Budget has laid the foundation for making India a developed nation by 2047.

Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, Rijiju said that a special proposal has been made for the middle class, poor, farmers, women, and children in the 2025-26 budget.

“…Today, I have to discuss the budget. You have to see what the common people have got from the budget. This year’s budget of 2025-26 will make India a developed nation in 2047. It is necessary to lay the foundation for making a developed India, and that has been laid in this budget,” the Union Minister said.

“A special proposal has been made in this budget, especially for infrastructure, our middle class, poor, farmers, women, and children,” he added.

Further highlighting the progress of Jammu and Kashmir under his party’s ten-year rule at the Centre, he said, “All of us know what was the condition of J&K when PM Modi took office in 2014 and how fast it is progressing today. In this budget, first of all, our middle class, salaried class got a big relief and support which has never been thought of nor has it ever been received.”

Pointing out the tax relief made in this year’s budget, he stated, “In this year’s budget, income up to Rs 12 lakh annually was made tax-free… If you earn Rs 1 lakh every month, then you do not need to pay Rs 1 tax…”

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju held a meeting with stakeholders of the tourism industry in Srinagar.
Rijiju stated that there is peace in Jammu and Kashmir. “There is peace in Jammu & Kashmir. If there are any issues anywhere, then the government knows how to handle them… The situation has improved so much after 2019 that we are able to look here to discuss the budget. We have come here because the people should know about the benefits of the budget,” he said.

Earlier this month, the Union Budget 2024-25, presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament, provided major relief to the salaried class with no income tax on an average monthly income of up to Rs 1 lakh to boost household savings and consumption with the government.

The Finance Minister’s announcement on tax relief means that the salaried class will pay nil income tax up to Rs 12.75 lakh. (ANI)
