Srinagar, March 18: The Planning and Publicity Division of the J&K Forest Department Tuesday organised a one-day workshop on ornithology and plant taxonomy at Sheikhbagh Forest Complex, Srinagar. The initiative aimed to enhance the skills of forest officials in bird identification and plant classification, crucial for biodiversity conservation.
Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) Kashmir, Irfan Rasool Wani, graced the event as the chief guest. Experts in ornithology and plant taxonomy delivered insightful lectures and hands-on training sessions, equipping participants with essential field knowledge. The workshop covered key topics such as bird identification, habitat assessment, and plant taxonomy. CCF Kashmir, in his address, highlighted the significance of these disciplines in forest conservation and encouraged participants to apply their learning in the field. The event was attended by senior officials, including Tawheed Ahmad Deva, Conservator of Forests, Srinagar Circle; Intesar Suhail, Wildlife Warden North; and Mudasir Mehmood, DFO Anantnag. A total of 42 forest officials from various divisions across Kashmir participated, gaining valuable expertise to strengthen conservation efforts in the Valley.
