Chief Secretary chairs high-level meet, stresses on coordination, SOPs

Srinagar, Sept 04: Chief Secretary, AtalDulloo, today chaired a high-level meeting to review flood preparedness and response measures in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by top officials, including Administrative Secretaries, Divisional Commissioners, and IGPs, who briefed the Chief Secretary on the steps taken so far to mitigate the impact of floods.
Dulloo praised the Divisional and District administrations for their efforts, but emphasized the need for advance planning and resource mobilization to deal with any eventuality. He directed officials to remain alert and evolve proper Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure a coordinated response.
The Chief Secretary also stressed the importance of training zonal level committees and circulating the flood response manual among all concerned. He called for upgrading the Decision Support System and conducting mock exercises to ensure preparedness.
The meeting was informed that safety audits of embankments have been completed, and temporary measures have been taken where necessary. Control rooms have been established to monitor the situation, and information dissemination is ongoing through social media, radio, and TV.
The Chief Secretary’s directives come as the region prepares for the possibility of floods, with the aim of minimizing damage and ensuring public safety.
