Srinagar, Mar 16: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Vice President, Surinder Singh Channi presided over a workers’ convention on Sunday here and addressed various concerns raised by people.
The event witnessed a large turnout of locals, Congress workers and supporters, a statement issued here said, adding that the primary focus was on the ongoing electricity bill issues faced by the residents.
Channi criticised the discrepancies in power supply, saying there was an unfair treatment where large corporate players, with lakhs of rupees in pending bills, continue to receive uninterrupted power, while common people’s connections are disconnected over even minor dues. He called for fair and just treatment in this regard.
In his address, the Congress leader stressed the development of tourism in Tral to boost the local economy. He assured the locals of his continuous support for the promotion of tourism, which he believed could provide significant economic benefits to the region.
Another key point raised by Channi was the establishment of a Fire Emergency Department in Aripal. He assured the residents that efforts are underway to set up the much-needed facility to enhance safety measures in the region.
The event also witnessed many locals from Tral joining the Congress Party, which signals growing support for the party in the region, the statement said.
IYC Joint Secretary, Manpreet Singh Mani also spoke at the convention. He extended support for the issues raised by the people. “Congress Party is committed to addressing the concerns of the people,” he added.
The convention concluded with a sense of optimism as many residents voiced their support for the Congress Party, looking forward to a brighter future for Tral under its leadership, the statement said.
