Srinagar, Oct 19: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised a key meeting here on Thursday to discuss various government schemes and their impact on the local population, particularly the underprivileged.
The meeting brought together prominent BJP figures, including Ashish Sood, BJP J&K Co-Incharge; Ashok Koul, J&K BJP General Secretary (Org.); and Sunil Prajapati, President of the J&K BJP OBC Morcha, among other senior party leaders. The primary focus of the meeting was to assess the government schemes and their significance in improving the lives of the people, especially those in need.
Ashish Sood highlighted the government’s “Vishwakarma Scheme”. He said this initiative, with a financial allocation of Rs 13,000 crore, aims to benefit artisans and craftsmen, primarily from the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in Jammu and Kashmir. It offers substantial support, from registration to financial assistance, to uplift these traditional vocations, he said.
He said the Vishwakarma Scheme is designed to span five years and is expected to benefit approximately 30 lakh families of artisans and craftsmen, including weavers, goldsmiths, blacksmiths, and laundry workers.
Ashok Koul emphasised the BJP government’s dedication to the citizens’ welfare. He highlighted initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, which aims to provide financial services to the economically disadvantaged, and the Ayushman Bharat Card scheme, offering free healthcare up to Rs 5 lakh per person for economically disadvantaged families. These schemes underscore the party’s commitment to the people’s well-being.
Sunil Prajapati stressed the importance of ensuring that these schemes effectively reach the intended beneficiaries. He encouraged party workers to redouble their efforts in making these programs accessible to the people.
In addition to the party leaders, several other prominent figures from the BJP attended the meeting, including Sajjad Kumar Hussain, General Secretary BJP OBC Morcha; Fayaz Ahmed Najar, Vice President BJP OBC Morcha; Muzaffar Ahmed Najar, Prabhari Central Kashmir BJP OBC Morcha; and G. M. Hajjam, Spokesperson BJP OBC Morcha.
Following the meeting, Ashish Sood, BJP J&K Co-Incharge, held a press conference to brief the media about the discussions. He was joined by Manzoor Bhat, the BJP IT Head & Media Incharge.
BJP appoints Adv Sajid Yousuf as Media Incharge for Kashmir
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday announced new appointments for key positions in the media, social media, and IT sectors in the Kashmir region.
According to a statement issued here, Sajid Yousuf Shah will serve as the BJP’s Media Incharge for Kashmir. He will be responsible for handling media relations and communication.
Sahil Bashir Bhat has been named the BJP’s Social Media Incharge, and is tasked with managing the party’s online presence and promoting its agenda.
Advocate Salman Shiekh will oversee the BJP’s IT operations as the IT Cell Incharge.
“This move demonstrates the BJP’s commitment to strengthening its presence and outreach in Kashmir by improving communication strategies, social media engagement, and IT support,” the party said in a statement.
