Katra, Oct 12: The J&K Bharat Scouts and Guides organized a Navratra Service Camp at the holy shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi in Katra from October 3 to 12, 2024. The camp was set up to assist the influx of pilgrims during the Navratra festival, one of the most significant religious observances in the region.
Under the leadership of Mtr. Nasreen Khan, State Secretary cum Administrative Officer, and Prof. Dr. Renu Nanda, State Commissioner Ranger, the Rovers and Rangers provided various services, including crowd management, food distribution, and assistance to devotees at key locations like the Bhawan, railway station, and bus terminal. Their efforts ensured a smooth and safe pilgrimage experience for the thousands of visitors.
The service camp participants were welcomed by Shri Anil Charak, JKAS, Tehsildar of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), on October 4, 2024, at the Central Office of SMVDSB in Katra. The event coordination was overseen by Shri Haroon Malik from the State Headquarters, ensuring effective operations throughout the camp.
The Scouts and Guides’ participation was widely appreciated by pilgrims and local authorities, as their dedicated service contributed to the orderly conduct of the festival amid heavy footfall.
