Srinagar, Nov 11: Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather confirmed on Monday that the resolution to restore the state’s special status has been forwarded to the relevant authorities. “We sent the resolution to the concerned authorities on the very day it was passed,” Rather told reporters.
When asked further about the matter, Rather emphasised his neutral stance, stating, “I am a non-aligned person and have no connection with any political party. Please speak to the parties directly involved for more insights.”
Regarding recent security encounters since the formation of the new government, Rather clarified that law and order fall under central government jurisdiction. “Law and order is not a state subject. The Police and related issues fall under the central government’s domain,” he stated.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has urged law enforcement to strengthen security measures to prevent further incidents.
