SRINAGAR, AUG 10: In a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, preparations were discussed to ready the Legislative Assembly complexes in Srinagar and Jammu for upcoming sessions following the anticipated assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Key officials present included the Principal Secretaries of Estates and Finance, the Commissioner Secretary of IT, the JK Resident Commissioner in Delhi, and Secretaries from the departments of R&B, Transport, Law, and Legislative Assembly, along with other senior officers.
Chief Secretary Dulloo emphasised the urgency of renovating and refurbishing the Assembly complexes at both locations in a time-bound manner. He stressed the importance of ensuring the functionality of essential services such as sound systems, internet connectivity, fire safety, and lifts, in addition to giving the buildings a facelift and upgrading allied amenities.
The meeting also addressed the need to renovate the chambers of the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Leader of Opposition, as well as providing for their official vehicles and residential accommodations.
Dulloo directed the concerned departments to expedite the repair work at MLA hostels in both cities. He underscored that all necessary amenities should be installed within the available time frame before the culmination of assembly elections, pending an announcement from the Election Commission of India.
He urged the administration to take proactive steps to ensure seamless operations once the legislative assembly is formed, stressing the importance of these preparations for the smooth functioning of this crucial democratic institution.
