In a swift response to a fake news video circulating on social media, the Jammu and Kashmir administration unequivocally denied claims of stone pelting on Amarnath Yatris, dismissing the allegations as baseless and fabricated. The video, which surfaced on Wednesday, suggested that the Police had engaged in stone pelting against Yatris en route to Srinagar for the revered Darshan of Amarnath Cave.
The government spokesman, in a communiqué issued today, clarified that the incident portrayed in the video resulted from a minor dispute among the poniwallas themselves, emphasizing that all arrangements had been meticulously made for the seamless conduct of the Yatra. The local people have played a pivotal role in ensuring the Yatra’s success by selflessly rendering their services since its inception.
“The Yatra exemplifies brotherhood, communal harmony, and unity among people, representing a spiritual journey that significantly contributes to the economic development of J&K,” the spokesman affirmed.
The video’s intentions were called into question, as the spokesman alleged it was created maliciously to sow discord among communities, disturb the peaceful Yatra, and spread disharmony. Testimonies from Yatris themselves have lauded the excellent quality of services and the overall seamless experience during the pilgrimage to the Holy Cave of Shri Amarnathji.
Emphasizing their commitment to the safety and security of Yatris and all stakeholders involved in the Yatra, the administration pledged to take strict action against those responsible for the incident. They also urged the public to refrain from spreading fake news, emphasizing the importance of responsible social media use.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police, who had previously faced allegations of lathi charge on Amarnath Yatris, also denied the claims, clarifying that they had only cleared the way for an ambulance to save a patient’s life.
