Srinagar, Oct 28: In a significant announcement, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh revealed the remarkable progress made in Jammu and Kashmir over the past five years, marked by zero collateral damage, zero law and order incidents, and zero civilian casualties, demonstrating a vastly improved security situation in the region. DGP Singh made these revelations during the passing out parade of 307 officials at CTC Lethpora in Pulwama district.
Highlighting the region’s transformation, DGP Singh emphasised the substantial reduction in the number of misguided youth joining the ranks of terrorists. He also discussed the launch of the Operational Capacity Augmentation of Police Stations (OCAPS) this year, aimed at strengthening 43 police stations with state-of-the-art equipment for their Peace and Stability Teams (PSTs).
The first phase of OCAPS involved 21 police stations, and teams have been deployed to cover the remaining 22 police stations as part of a comprehensive zero-terror strategy. These police stations are now equipped with the latest weaponry, drones, and 14-member squads specially trained to handle terror incidents, significantly enhancing their ability to maintain peace and security in the region.
DGP Singh expressed satisfaction with the visible improvements on the ground, which include the disappearance of bandh calls, stone-pelting incidents, and law and order challenges. He also acknowledged the recent successful operation in which five terrorists were neutralized in Machil, Kupwara, underscoring the continued attempts by adversaries to disrupt peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
Furthermore, DGP Singh assured the public that border security measures were robust and that all threats along the Line of Control would be effectively thwarted through close coordination between the police and security forces.
DGP Singh credited these significant achievements to the unwavering support of the public and highlighted the dedication of the Jammu and Kashmir Police force to safeguarding the community, particularly the youth and children who aspire to secure a brighter and safer future. He urged the continued cooperation of the public, envisioning a more secure and promising tomorrow for the region.
DGP Singh also commended the Principal and staff for providing excellent training to the officials and officers, as well as the participation of officers from police and other security forces.
Reflecting on his tenure as DGP, Singh expressed satisfaction that peace is visibly returning to the region, with the disappearance of bandh calls, the stone-pelting culture, and law and order challenges. He further emphasized the commitment of the Jammu and Kashmir Police to ensure the safety of the youth and the people of the region, particularly those children who leave their homes for school in pursuit of a better future.
DGP Singh flagged off the Command vehicles being deployed to police stations to combat terror-related crimes, reinforcing the commitment to maintaining the improved security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
