Jammu, June 01: Fifteen more people injured in the Jhajjar Kotli accident undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College and Hospital-Jammu (GMC-J) have been discharged, while the ARTO team from Jammu has examined the bus and taken the chassis number along with it for further investigation.
Two number plates were found from the bus which met with a tragic accident two days back at Jhajjar Kotli in Jammu. The number plates found at the accident site are from Uttar Pradesh (UP). The accident took place at 5:30 am when most of the people travelling in the bus were sleeping.
“The team from ARTO office Jammu today examined the bus and also took away chassis number of the bus for further investigation,” SHO Jhajjar Kotli, Azad Manhas told Rising Kashmir
He said the ARTO will provide them with the complete report within a day or two which will help them in the investigation.
Ten people lost their lives, while 63 were injured in the accident after the bus they were travelling in rolled down from a bridge into the gorge at Jhajjar Kotli. The bus, which met with the accident, was on its way to Katra from Amritsar. Katra is the base camp of Mata Vaishno Devi.
All those traveling in the bus were relatives and were going to Mata Vaishno Devi to perform the ‘Mundan’ ceremony.
“A total of 55 injured people have been discharged from the GMC-Jammu so far,” Medical Superintendent, GMC-J, Dr Rajinder Bhutiyal told Rising Kashmir, adding, “Six injured are still undergoing treatment in the hospital and three of them underwent surgeries today”.
They are responding to the treatment but it will take some time for them to recover as they have multiple injuries, the GMC MS further said.
