JD(U) confident of winning assembly elections in J&K: Shaheen

Srinagar, July 02: G M Shaheen, President of the Jammu and Kashmir of the Janata Dal (United), on Friday said the party is confident of winning the upcoming assembly elections and forming the next government.
In anticipation of the election dates being announced, the JD(U) will commence extensive outreach programs from today, the party said in a statement.
“We are confident of our victory in the upcoming assembly elections,” Shaheen said. “Our party is ready to start outreach programs immediately, ensuring that our message of development, unity, and progress reaches every corner of Jammu and Kashmir.”
He urged all those who have abstained from voting in the past 35 years to actively participate in the forthcoming elections. Recognising the importance of inclusive democratic participation, he emphasised the need for every voice to be heard and counted.
“We also appeal to scholars and all sections of society to join us in this democratic process,” he said. “It is time for every citizen to exercise their right to vote and contribute to the shaping of our future.”
The JD(U) J&K chief appealed to both the Union Territory government and the Central government to announce a special package for the agriculture and floriculture sectors, which have been severely affected by harsh weather conditions in Jammu and Kashmir. This package is crucial to support the livelihood of farmers and to ensure the stability and growth of these essential sectors, he said.
He said the harsh weather conditions have taken a toll on the agriculture and floriculture sectors here. “We urgently need a special package from the government to mitigate these effects and support our farmers,” he said
