Jammu, Sep 05: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Abhijeet Jasrotia on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the Congress, dismissing its “charge sheet” as a “baseless collection of lies and propaganda aimed at misleading the public” ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu & Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP media centre here, Jasrotia, who was joined by BJP spokespersons, General Rakesh Sharma (Retd) and YV Sharma, as well as BJP Media Incharge Dr Pardeep Mahotra, said, “The Congress’s charge sheet is nothing more than a desperate, baseless attempt by a party that has lost its credibility. It is filled with lies, devoid of facts, and a cynical ploy to obscure their own historical failures. Congress has no vision or solutions—just empty rhetoric aimed at confusing the public.”
He targeted the Congress-NC alliance, blaming them for the region’s long-standing issues. “These are the people responsible for decades of suffering in Jammu and Kashmir. Under their governance, terrorism, corruption and economic ruin plagued the region. Now, they dare to accuse us? This alliance is built on opportunism and self-interest, and its goal is to bring back the instability and violence of the past,” he said.
Jasrotia also demanded that Sajjad Kichloo, the National Conference leader and former Home Minister of J&K, be barred from contesting in the upcoming elections. “Kichloo was indicted by the Justice RC Gandhi Commission for his role in the 2013 Kishtwar riots, a report that was kept from the public. How can someone responsible for such violence and communal unrest be allowed to contest for public office? This is not just a political issue—it’s a matter of justice,” he asked.
The BJP spokesperson added, “The people of Jammu and Kashmir know who betrayed them for decades and who brought progress. Congress can spread as many lies as they want, but their time is over.”
