Jasia slams cracking ton, Bawandeep, Rubia score fifties as J&K thrashes Baroda by 6 wts

Kolkata, Dec 04: Jasia Akhtar slammed magnificent unbeaten century, while Bawandeep Kaur and Rubia Syed scored brialliant fifties as J&K crushed formidable Baroda by six wickets in the ongoing Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy at Aditya Academy Ground, Kolkata on Wednesday.
Chasing a massive total of 255 runs, J&K rode on superb unbeaten 124 runs off 98 balls, studded with 13 fours and 4 massive sixes by Jasia Akhtar, 60 off 98 balls by Bawandeep Kaur and unbeaten 50 off 40 balls by with 7 fours and one six by Rubia Syed, chased the target in 44.3 overs losing 4 wickets in the process, thus winning the match by six wickets. Jasia and Rubia were at their murderous best in their knocks, while Bawandeep showed composure and promise.
For Baroda, NV Patel took 2 wickets, while Dharti claimed one wicket.
Earlier, Baroda scored 255 runs in 50 overs, losing all their wickets in the process.
Amrita Joseph top scored with 89 runs while Pragya Rawat and CJ Desai contributed 34 and 33 respectively.
For J&K, right-arm Speedster Rubia Syed took 3 wickets while left-arm seamer Sarla Devi and off-spinner Sandhya Sayal bagged 2 wickets each. Right-arm leg spinner Ananaya Sharma claimed one wicket.
Commending the effort of the team, Brig Anil Gupta, Member Administration JKCA congratulated the team for an emphatic win and exhorted them to continue the winning streak despite the Group having many tough opponents.
Mithun Manhas, Member Cricket Operations and Development, said that following the processes and maintaining good team work is the key to success and he was happy that our Senior Women Team under its new coach is shaping well. Sunil Sethi also complimented the team’s performance.
