Jammu, June 17: Government’s initiative to provide a unique digital door number to each residential and commercial property in Jammu has been halted as it failed to receive technical clearance.
Around two lakh houses, shops, government buildings and commercial establishments in all the seventy five (75) wards falling within the limits of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) were identified by the authorities where the digital door number plates with QR code were to be fixed.
As part of pilot project, digital door number plates with QR code were fixed/provided in around 50 houses and shops in ward 62 of Jammu City.
The work started on May 5. However, due to certain reasons, these digital number plates were sent for technical scrutiny of their software and design.
“The software and the design of these digital door number plates with QR code was sent for technical clearance,” JP Singh, Manager Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) informed Rising Kashmir, while adding, “The clearance so far has not been given”.
Due to non-clearance on technical grounds, the work for the fixing of digital door number plates with QR code has been put on hold in all the 75 wards of Jammu.
The work for the fixation of digital door number plates in all the 75 wards can only be started once we get the technical clearance, the Manager said.
