Jammu, March 21: Jammu city will soon be under complete surveillance as the hi-tech Pan Tilt Zoom (PTZ) cameras are going to be installed at fifty nine different locations identified by the government, officials informed.

“Yes, we have started the work to install hi-tech PTZ cameras in all the prominent locations identified in different areas across Jammu,” Manager, Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL), JP Singh informed Rising Kashmir, adding, “these PTZ cameras will be installed at all the identified locations by mid of April, next month”.

With the installation of these 59 more high-tech PTZ cameras across different locations of Jammu, a total of 73 prominent locations will completely come under the surveillance of CCTV cameras 24×7. High-tech cameras have already been installed at 14 prominent locations of Jammu.

Out of these 73 locations where high-tech cameras will be installed, the PTZ cameras in 44 locations will solely be for the purpose of keeping a close watch on traffic violations, sources informed.

While in the other 29 locations/areas across Jammu, the high-tech cameras will solely be for the purpose of surveillance/close watch round the clock other than traffic violations. In these 29 locations, a 24×7 close watch would be kept through cameras on criminal activities, different activities/movement during VIP movement besides other activities round the clock.

These 29 cameras will not read the number plates but will provide live videos of activities/movements other than traffic violations round the clock, sources informed.

Apart from this, the PTZ cameras will also provide live videos of movement on the National Highway right from Satwari to Purmandal Morh (Kalu Chack), and from Kunjwani to Sidhra, the areas falling within the jurisdiction of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), sources further informed.

All these high-tech cameras will have connectivity and will provide live videos to J&K Police headquarters at Gulshan Ground, Jammu, Traffic Control Room, Integrated Command Centre (ICC) at JMC and Police Control Room (PCR) Parade.

The experts and the staff assigned to the duty will monitor and watch the videos round the clock in all these 4 centres.
