Jammu, March 21: The District Jammu Softball Association, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council and J&K Softball Association, inaugurated the Softball Championship at the Football Ground, GGM Science College, Jammu.
The Chief Guest at the opening ceremony praised the J&K Sports Council for its efforts in promoting sports across the region. She highlighted the importance of engaging youth in sports to combat the rising menace of drug abuse. Acknowledging the organisers’ efforts, she expressed confidence that such events would boost the popularity of softball in Jammu. Special Guests Kusam Gupta, Vajinder Kour and Payal Mahajan attended the ceremony, while Padam Dev Singh, Joint Secretary of JKSA and Sudhir Singh, Member of the Disciplinary Commission of JKSA, presided as Guests of Honour.
The two-day championship features over 200 participants across various categories, including Sub-Junior Boys and Girls, Junior Boys and Girls, and Senior Men and Women. Under the supervision of Yogesh Mahajan, the event witnessed ten matches on the opening day. A team of technical officials, including Pawan Sadotra, Rawat Singh, Aman Singh, and Ayush Singh, are ensuring the smooth conduct of the tournament. The championship is sponsored by the J&K Sports Council.
