Jammu celebrates Diwali for 2 days with religious enthusiasm, fervour

Jammu, Nov 01: After many years, the festival of lights, Diwali, was celebrated with full religious enthusiasm across Jammu region for two days with people performing Lord Ganesha and Maa Lakshmi pujan on October 31 and November 1.
As per the Hindu Shastra experts, this year Diwali, was to be celebrated for two days. On October 31st, the ‘Shubh Muhurrat’ (auspicious time) started at around 3:55 PM and existed till 6:15 PM on November 1st to perform pujan of Lord Ganesha and Maa Lakshmi.
This means the ‘Amavasya’ began on Thursday and the ‘Shubh Muhurrat’ for performing pujan of Maa Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha was upto 6:15 PM today evening.
The people performed the pujan of Maa Lakshmi (Goddess of wealth) and Lord Ganesha for two days. The Festival of Diwali continues for five days starting from DhanTeras, followed by Diwali, Vishwakrama Day, Goverdhan Puja and concludes with Bhai Dhujh.
All the markets of Jammu City witnessed heavy rush of people, especially in the old city, where people were seen buying gifts and sweets for their near and dear ones to wish them happy Diwali.
Heavy rush was seen at the firecracker stalls at Gandhi Nagar, Parade, near Hari Singh Park, and at some other places where people thronged in thousands to buy firecrackers to celebrate Diwali.
Huge rush of devotees was witnessed in Ram Temples of Jammu City since early morning.
