Jammu, Dec 12: Jammu is poised to host the 36th Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (JKUT) Senior Men and Women Volleyball Championship, organized by the Volleyball Association of J&K in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council. The three-day sporting extravaganza will kick off today at 2:30 PM at the iconic MA Stadium, with the Minister of Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, slated to formally inaugurate the event.
This year’s championship will witness fierce competition as 30 teams—20 in the men’s section and 10 in the women’s section—battle it out for glory. Over 500 players and officials will participate, including several international volleyball players who are expected to showcase their skills, inspiring a new generation of athletes and promoting the sport of volleyball.
The smooth conduct of the championship is being supported by various organizations, including the J&K Excise Department, J&K Bank, LIC, Chenab Valley Projects Ltd, Yes Bank, State Times, and JK Public School Management.
Kuldeep Magotra, the Organizing Secretary and CEO of the Volleyball Association of J&K, revealed that this championship coincides with the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Association, founded in 1974. In a special gesture, volleyball veterans who have significantly contributed to the sport’s development in J&K and at the national level will be honored during the event.
In a message, Sidharth Dalluja, President of the Volleyball Association of J&K, extended his best wishes to all participants and expressed hope that their stay in Jammu would be comfortable. He emphasized the role of such events in fostering national unity and communal harmony.
With top-tier talent and a spirit of camaraderie, the 36th JKUT Volleyball Championship promises to be an exciting spectacle for players and spectators alike.
