Awantipora, Nov 13: The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) is set to celebrate its 18th Foundation Day on November 15 and 16, 2023, coinciding with a series of events, including the Industry-Academia Conclave 3.0 and the Technology Exposition (TechExpo) 2023.
The Lieutenant Governor & Chancellor of the university, Shri Manoj Sinha will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The event is being attended among others by Shri Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to LG, Shri. Sivasubramanian Ramann, Chairman, Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), Vice Chancellors of various universities, Shri. Santosh D. Vaidya, Principal Secretary, Finance Department, Government of J&K, Shri. Saurabh Bhagat, Commissioner/Secretary, Science & Technology Department, Government of J&K, Dr. Subi Chaturvedi, Global SVP, Chief Corporate Affairs & Public Policy Officer, Inmobi Group and various other dignitaries.

The Industry-Academia Conclave 3.0, aims to bridge the gap between industry and academia. The focus is on transforming small-scale businesses into medium or large-scale enterprises, providing them with a unique identity at the state, national, and global levels. The event will bring together mentors, policymakers, planners, industries, and stakeholders to discuss ways to support innovation, incubation, and start-up initiatives in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
The IUST has secured significant financial support from Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, and the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. On this occasion, the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (CIED) IUST, will launch the Start-up India Seed Capital Fund Scheme (SISCFS), thereby becoming the first incubator in the UT of J&K to implement this national scheme in the J&K. In collaboration with SIDBI, CIED-IUST is also introducing the STEM (Skill To Enterprise Model) pilot One year Diploma program to train skilled youth for entrepreneurship development.
As part of the Foundation Day celebrations, the Technology Exposition (TechExpo) 2023 will showcase the translation of innovative ideas into products and prototypes developed by students and faculty in collaboration. To further promote entrepreneurship, a special exhibition of women entrepreneurs organized by the Women Entrepreneurship Development Cell will be a notable feature of the celebration.
