Srinagar, Mar 24: The Indian Meteorological Society (IMS) Srinagar Chapter successfully organized a seminar to commemorate World Meteorological Day 2025, focusing on the theme “Closing the Early Warning Gap Together.” The event brought together eminent experts, researchers, and professionals to discuss advancements in meteorology, disaster preparedness, and climate resilience. The seminar was hosted online and featured insightful talks from distinguished speakers.
The Lead Talk was delivered by Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Vice-Chancellor IUST and Chairman of IMS Srinagar Chapter. Prof. Romshoo highlighted the pressing need for strengthening early warning systems in the region and the role of scientific advancements in mitigating climate-related disasters. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Scientist-D at IMD and Secretary IMS Srinagar Chapter, who was the keynote speaker of the seminar provided deep insights into the latest developments in meteorology and their implications for climate change adaptation and disaster preparedness.
