IUST convenes BoRS meeting to strengthen research in Humanities & Social Sciences

  Awantipora, Sep 26: The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Friday convened the sixth meeting of its Board of Research Studies (BoRS) for the School of Humanities and Social Sciences today to review academic and research priorities. A statement issued here said that chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Shakil A. Romshoo, the meeting brought together internal members and eminent external experts, including Prof. Shahid Rasool (Professor, School of Media Studies and Dean Academic Affairs, Central University of Kashmir), Prof. Rakesh Chandra (Head, Department of Philosophy and Dean Academics, University of Lucknow), Prof. Madhu Khanna (Former Director and Professor, Centre for Comparative Religions and Civilization, Jamia Millia Islamia), Prof. Shad Hussain (Former Professor, Department of Arabic, University of Kashmir), Prof. Abdul Rashid Bhat (Former Professor, Shah-e-Hamdan Institute of Islamic Studies, University of Kashmir), Prof. Rattan Lal Shant (Former Professor, Department of Higher Education), Prof. Rajesh S. Kharat (Dean, Faculty of Humanities, University of Mumbai), and Prof. Nishat Zaidi (Department of English, Jamia Millia Islamia). Also present were the Dean of Academic Affairs, the Registrar, the Dean of the School, directors, heads of departments, senior faculty members, and a scholar representative. The meeting was coordinated by Dr. Aabid Shalla, Dean of Research. The Board deliberated on research synopses, course curricula, re-registrations, extensions, and other academic matters across departments including Journalism and Mass Communication, International Relations, English, Islamic Studies, Arabic, Philosophy, and other inter-disciplinary areas. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Romshoo highlighted the critical role of high-quality research in addressing societal challenges and enriching knowledge traditions, reaffirming IUST’s commitment to fostering rigorous scholarship and innovation.
