Srinagar, Mar 13: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) said on Monday that it conducted raids in Srinagar in connection with the ISIS Module investigation.
On Monday, an NIAspokesman stated that they had conducted searches at the house of Uzair Azhar Bhat in Karfali Mohalla, who is suspected of being involved in the ISIS Kerala Module conspiracy.During the searches, the NIA team seized digital devices that are being examined and further investigations are in progress in the case, he said.
In 2021, the NIA began investigating Muhammad Ameen @ Abu Yahya r/o Kadannamanna, Distt. Mallapuram (Kerala), who was running several ISIS propaganda channels on various social media platforms, including Telegram, Hoop, and Instagram.
“Using these means, he was spreading ISIS’s violent Jihadi ideology and radicalising and recruiting new members to this ISIS module,” the spokesman  stated.
He said that accused Ameen and his colleagues had even identified specific people for targeted assassinations. They had also made arrangements to relocate to Jammu and Kashmir to engage in terrorist actions and had accumulated finances for this trip from various sources.
The spokesman stated that during the investigation, it was found that Mohammad Ameen was in contact with Deepthi Marla of Kerala, a converted Muslim who is married to Anas Abdul Rahiman of Mangalore.
“In 2015, Deepthi went to Dubai to study, where she met MizhaSiddeeque, and both women developed an affinity for ISIS. They attempted to relocate to Khorasan in 2019 and arrived in Tehran, Iran. “Their connections with ISIS operators in Khorasan could not be established until they arrived in Tehran,” he stated.
“They both returned to India, and Deepthi got in touch with Ameen, Obaid Hamid Matta, Madesh Shankar @ Abdullah, and others, and made plans  to do Hijrah to ISIS-administered territory, ,” stated an NIA spokesperson.
“In January 2020, she went to Srinagar in January 2020 to meet Obaid to plan the Hijrah and stayed in Srinagar for one week,” he said.
The spokesman further said one of the common contacts between Deepthi and Obaid, Uzair Azhar Bhat, who is suspected to have been part of the conspiracy, was raided on Monday.
