Srinagar, Nov 05: In a collaborative effort, the IRP 11th Battalion, Rotary Club Bangalore, and the social welfare department organized a groundbreaking program addressing mental health, phone use ethics, and stress management for police personnel and students in different schools and a social welfare center in Anantnag. The initiative aimed to tackle pressing issues prevalent in today’s fast-paced world and equip participants with essential skills to navigate these challenges effectively.
The event, held at Government Middle School Khandipahari, K.Y. International School Anantnag, and PAREESHA Bon-Dialgam, Anantnag, provided a comprehensive platform tailored to the specific needs of police personnel and students. SSP Sandeep Mehta, JKPS, CO IRP 11th Bn, emphasized the urgency of addressing mental health concerns, responsible phone use, and stress management in the contemporary era. He highlighted the importance of implementing countermeasures and techniques to mitigate these challenges effectively, enhancing the overall well-being of the participants.
The program’s main speaker, Dr Padmakshi Lokesh from Rotary Club Bangalore, a trained psychologist and stress management specialist, delivered a compelling address. Dr Lokesh focused on promoting mental health awareness, reducing stigma, and offering practical strategies for recognizing and managing stress, anxiety, and depression. She emphasized responsible phone use, advocating for setting boundaries and avoiding digital addiction to enhance overall well-being, especially in the age of smartphones.
Participants received hands-on training in stress management techniques, including mindfulness, time management, and healthy coping strategies, empowering them to handle the pressures of their respective roles effectively.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by the Deputy Commanding Officer (DyCO) of the Battalion. The event witnessed active participation from Rotary Club Bangalore members, PRI (Panchayati Raj Institutions) members from the area, teachers from the schools, and police officers from the battalions.
