New Delhi, Feb 23: The Centre for Kashmiri Language Literature and Culture (CKLLC), the cultural and literary wing of the All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS), in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, celebrated International Mother Language Day at the Umang Auditorium of IGNCA in New Delhi.
The event was graced by Dr. Rashmi Singh, Principal Resident Commissioner J&K, Sachchidanand, Member Secretary IGNCA, and Prof. Sadaf Munshi from the USA. Ravinder Pandita, President of AIKS, welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance of preserving Kashmiri culture.
Celebrating the rich heritage of the Kashmiri language and culture, the event featured performances by various prominent poets, singers, and artists. The audience was enthralled by the performances of Dananjay, Vanishia, and Upasna, while Akshay’s tabla performance received praise for his stamina and skill.
The event also featured virtual addresses from Dr. R.L. Shant, Arvindv Shah, and Opinder Ambardhar, with Kh Abdul Ghani from POK joining the discussions via live stream.
Special recognitions included a plaque and shawl for T.N. Kundan, an eminent writer, and honors for Zeista Prabhandak Committee Zeethyar Kashmir for their efforts in preserving Kashmiri heritage.
A special issue of Vaakh, the AIKS magazine, was released, and the latest edition of Naad was displayed. Speakers expressed concern over the declining use of the Kashmiri language, urging government action to prevent its extinction. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Vijay Kashkari.
