Ramban, Oct 11: In a significant initiative toward empowering young women, the District Social Welfare Department, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and Police, organized a seminar and career counseling session at Government Degree College Ramban to mark International Day of the Girl Child.
The event, aimed at guiding college girls toward diverse career opportunities, included thought-provoking discussions, skits, and mentorship. In line with the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, and under the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Rahul Gupta, the program witnessed active participation from various stakeholders.
The Police provided essential guidance on women’s safety, while the DLSA emphasized legal awareness, highlighting the importance of equal rights and gender equality. The discussions focused on encouraging girls to break barriers, seize opportunities, and take on leadership roles in society.
Students from Palaash, Ramban, contributed to the event by showcasing vibrant posters and drawings centered on education and empowerment. Their messages, including “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” (Save the girl child, educate the girl child), “A girl child is the nation’s pride,” and “Not born to die, born to fly high,” captured the essence of the day’s celebrations.
In Gool, the Social Welfare Department distributed baby kits to new mothers as part of a maternal and child health initiative, further promoting family well-being and newborn health.
