Leh, June 25: To mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking observed on June 26, an awareness programme was organised for drug users and their families by JKSPYM SLCA J&K and Ladakh in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. Around 50 participants took part in the programme.
The programme aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and to promote a message of hope and recovery among drug users and their families. The event witnessed the participation of recovering individuals, family members, students and key stakeholders.
Project Manager and counsellor addressed the audience, highlighting the importance of family support in the recovery journey and the role of the community in building a drug-free society. Personal stories of recovery and resilience were shared, inspiring attendees to seek help and stay committed to the path of healing. The event emphasised that addiction is a treatable condition and that with the right support, individuals can reclaim their lives. The initiative reaffirmed the collective commitment to “Say No to Drugs” and to work together towards a healthier, happier and drug-free society.
