Srinagar, Mar 19: The two-day International Conference on ‘Advances in Computer Sciences & Technology’ concluded at Govt. College for Women, M.A. Road, Srinagar on Saturday.
Director Colleges, Prof. (Dr.) Yasmeen Ashai was the Chief Guest at the valedictory ceremony. In her address, Director Colleges said the Higher Education Department is committed to promote research since it is critical for sustaining a large and vibrant economy like India. She said the Higher Education Department is working to expand the research capabilities across disciplines.
Prof. Yasmeen Ashai said such conferences are also quite relevant in the context of implementation of National Education Policy which calls for creating a robust ecosystem for research and the Higher Education Department is committed to encourage and sponsor such endeavors in all the degree colleges of the UT.
She also appreciated the efforts of the college’s Department of Computer Applications, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and other committees for organizing the conference.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Controller of Examinations, University of Kashmir, Dr. Majid Zaman, Prof. Promod Kumar Mishra of Banaras Hindu University and Prof. Akshay Agarwal of IISER Bhopal.
Earlier welcoming the guests, Principal of the host college, Prof. (Dr.) Ruhi Jan Kanth spoke about technology-aided education and how it is being used to assist students better understand what is being taught.
“The paradigm shift in the process of disseminating knowledge has paved the way for a range of digital tools which play a crucial role in modern education system,” Prof. Ruhi said. She hailed the efforts of Organizing Secretary, Dr. Sameer Kaul and his team for smooth conduct of the two-day event.
Prof. Raashid Ashraf Malik read out a detailed report of the conference proceedings referring to the papers based on various sub-themes and their key findings.
On the occasion, certificates were presented to the participants. The best paper presenter certificates were presented to Areeba Afaq, Iflah Mushtaq, Romana Shabir and Aavampreet Kour. Books authored by the students of the college- Shahid Yousuf and Asma- were also released by the guests.
Students and staff of the Music Department of the college presented a colourful cultural programme enthralling the audience to mark the end of the conference.
