International Biodiversity Day: Speakers advocate for sustainable use of earth’s resources

Bandipora, May 23: The speakers at a programme organised in connection with ‘International Biodiversity Day’ stressed on generating awareness about the issue and advocated for sustainable use of earth’s resources to preserve biodiversity.
With the theme, “From Agreement to Action: Build Back Biodiversity”, International Biodiversity Day was celebrated at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Mantrigam. The programme was organized by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Bandipora under the Chairmanship of Chairman DLSA Bandipora, Amit Sharma and guidance of Secretary DLSA Bandipora, Nusrat Ali Hakak in collaboration with the Education Department, Bandipora.
The programme had the distinguished presence of Masood ul Hassan Reshi, Principal Govt. Higher Secondary School Mantrigam, Bandipora and other Senior Lecturers.
The students also delivered speeches on the subject topic and urged everyone to be responsible and to make collective efforts towards preventing the loss of nature’s bounty that we are blessed with. The programme was also attended by staff members of DLSA Bandipora, Teachers and students of the said institution and Para Legal Volunteers, Bandipora.
 
 
DLSA Anantnag organises two progs
In compliance with the directions of JK Legal Services Authority, DLSA Anantnag under the guidance of Chairman DLSA Anantnag, Jaffer Hussain Beigh, organized two programmes on “International Biodiversity Day” in coordination with Government Degree College Women Anantnag and Government High School Poshkeeri block Mattan.
The first programme held at Government Degree College for Women Anantnag was attended by Secretary DLSA Anantnag along with LADC and PLVs. Idrees Magray, Assistant LADC Anantnag deliberated on Biological Diversity Act 2002 and important Acts passed related to Environment and Bio-diversity. Prof. Sabzar Ahmad Reshi from Women’s Degree College Anantnag also gave a presentation on the topic.
The 2nd programme was held at Government High School Poshkeeri block Mattan. Secretary DLSA Anantnag, Tabassum Qadir Parray, spoke on the occasion and highlighted the efficacy of the event. The programme was also attended by concerned school faculty and students and PLVs of DLSA Anantnag.
The main intent of the celebration of International Day of Biodiversity is to increase the understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues and to halt or reverse these issues. This year the theme of programme is “From Agreement to Action: Build Back Diversity”. It is vital to transform people’s roles and actions, and their relationship with biodiversity. At the conclusion of the programme, certificates were distributed among the students.
