Pulwama, March 01: Authorities in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district have constituted an inquiry to ascertain the actual facts of a recent episode at district hospital (DH) Pulwama wherein a municipal councillor and an on duty doctor were involved in a heated argument.
The video of the incident at district hospital ( DH) Pulwama went viral on social media a couple of days ago.
In the video President of Municipal Council (MC) Pulwama, Bilal Ahmad Rather, was seen agitated due to non-availability of USG facility at DH Pulwama during evening hours.
The video also features some attendants carrying a patient on a stretcher outside DH Pulwama for getting an USG done.
The video shows president of MC Pulwama getting infuriated over the non-availability USG facility at DH Pulwama during evening hours and hurling abuses.
A day after the incident the representatives of doctors and paramedical staff of DH Pulwama approached authorities demanding that a legal action be taken against the president of MC Pulwama for alleged rude behaviour and threatening an on duty doctor.
“The leadership of our association has given a representation to the district administration that there should be a legal action against president MC Pulwama and that such incidents should not happen in future,” Dr Mohammad Yusuf, a staffer at DH Pulwama said, adding that authorities have sought an inquiry into the incident and the video of the incident is a clear evidence.
President MC Pulwama ,Bilal Ahmad Rather said that he welcomes the inquiry and that he will cooperate with it.
“I want the inquiry to find out the root cause which triggered this episode,” he said, adding that the enquiry should see how patients are treated at DH Pulwama.
He said that if health department claims DH Pulwama functional round the clock then why a patient was sent outside for USG on a stretcher. He added that he will like the inquiry to check records of USG’s done at DH Pulwama during night hours.
