New Delhi, Dec 13: Former Union Minister and Member of Parliament from Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency Anurag Singh Thakur highlighted the work done in the Infrastructure sector during 10-year tenure of the Modi government.
He termed this growth as a strong identity of new India.
Thakur said that the 10 years of Modi government has shown a remarkable growth in the Infrastructural sector and has become a strong identity of new India. “Under the able guidance and leadership of the Prime Minister for the first time in the history of India so much emphasis has been laid on infrastructure development. With every passing year the increased Public investment on infrastructure in budget is ample proof of this. In last 10 years of the Modi government nation has witnessed a major shift towards infrastructure build up. These changes are quite visible and not only in statistics. The Modi government’s main development focus has been on the expansion of infrastructural facilities like roads, highways, rail, other logistics, electricity, airports, ports etc and it will further continue to meet the excellence.”
Thakur said, “The Modi Government has allocated Rs. 11,11,111 crores for capital expenditure this year, which is 3.4 percent of our GDP. Since 2014, 500% increase in road transport and highways have been made in budget allocation. The pace of Highway construction was 37 km/day in 2020-21. The National Highway (NH) network expansion from 91,287 km in 2014 has reached up to 1,46,145 km by 2023.
He said 2.5 fold of increase in the length of 4-lane National Highway from 18,387 km in 2014 to 46,179 km by November 2023 is a testimony to the Modi government’s commitment towards infrastructure growth.
Thakur said, “Since 2014, 3.74 lakh km of roads have been built under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). More than 100 Vande Bharat trains have been started by the Modi Government. Under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme for Development and Modernization of Railway Stations, 1318 stations have been selected for redevelopment process. Broad Gauge (BG) network of about 62,000 Route Kilometers has been electrified. This, he said is about 94% of the total broad-gauge routes (65,556 RKM) of Indian Railways. Until 2014, only 21,801 km of broad-gauge network was electrified.
Talking about metro Thakur said, the metro network has been expanded from 248 km in 2014 to 1000 km in 2024.This is benefiting more than one crore commuters daily. From just 5 cities in 2014, today 919 km of metro lines are under construction in 21 cities and in 26 additional cities.
