Infiltration bid foiled, two foreign terrorists killed in Kupwara

Srinagar, July 19: A joint party of security forces on Wednesday claimed to have killed two foreign terrorists and foiled a major infiltration bid along Line of Control (LoC) in Machil sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
 
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Vijay Kumar said that the successful operation not only foiled the infiltration attempt but also dealt a severe blow to the plans of terrorists to disrupt peace and stability in the region.
 
“The dedication and commitment of Jammu & Kashmir police, security force personnel involved in this anti-terrorist operation have once again demonstrated their readiness to protect the nation against all odds,” he said.
 
A police spokesman said that acting on specific intelligence regarding infiltration bid by terrorists, J&K Police, Army (14 Dogra), and BSF (140Bn) launched counter-infiltration operation along LoC in Machil Sector of Kupwara.  “In this swift and coordinated operation, the joint team naturalized two Pakistani terrorists in the wee hours on Wednesday, when their movement was observed along LoC, thereby ensuring the safety and security of the region,” he said.
The bodies of the terrorists were retrieved by the joint team from the place of encounter. The identification and affiliation of the killed terrorists is being ascertained.
The joint team also recovered arms and ammunition including 04 AK series rifles, 09 AK Magazines, 175 AK rounds, 06 hand grenades, a UBGL, 04 UBGL grenades and other incriminating materials from the site of encounter.
Meanwhile, police has registered a case under relevant sections of law and investigation has been taken up.
Over the past six months, there have been various infiltration attempts along the LoC at multiple locations and more than one 15 terrorists have been killed by the joint team of security forces deployed on borders.
