Indian Rlys edging to connect Kashmir to rest of network: CEO Rly Board

Srinagar, Feb 11: Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Railway Board Jaya Varma Sinha on Sunday said that despite geological, topographical and meteorological challenges, work on the remaining portion is in full swing and soon Kashmir will be connected with the rest of railway network.
Expressing confidence in the project’s progress, Sinha emphasized the relentless commitment of Indian Railways to connect the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country. She directed project authorities to expedite remaining works, particularly in the Katra-Reasi section, to facilitate this integration.
During her inspection, Sinha reviewed progress at the Chenab Bridge site alongside officials from NR, KRCL, and IRCON. She expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and urged close monitoring of all remaining tasks, emphasizing the importance of meeting deadlines, especially for Tunnel T-1 and Sawalkote yard works.
Beginning her inspection from Katra to Tunnel No. T-33, Sinha commended the project team for their commendable work under challenging geological conditions. She stressed adherence to safety protocols while appreciating the dedication of the workforce.
Continuing her inspection through Tunnel T-34 onwards,  CEO Railway Board also continued the motor trolley inspection Tunnel T-34(old T-2) onwards through Anji Bridge, Reasi Station, Bakkal Station, Chenab Bridge right up to Dugga railway station inspecting track, E&M, S&T and RE works and expressed satisfaction regarding the quality and progress of these works.
Senior officials including Shobhan Chaudhuri, General Manager/Northern Railway, Sandeep Gupta, CAO/USBRL, Sanjay Gupta, CMD/KRCL, V P Singh, PCE/NR, U. C. Joshi, PCOM/NR, and Sanjay Sahu, Divisional Railway Manager Firozpur, were present during the inspection.
