Srinagar, Feb 23: Old Town Baramulla is now witnessing a positive transformation through initiatives like GAASH Academy, founded by Jenab Sheikh Mudasir. The academy, which provides free educational support to about 80 underprivileged children and orphans, is empowering them with modern education, guiding their energy towards becoming the beacon of a prosperous Kashmir.
On 22 February 2025, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Vajra Division visited the academy to recognise the exceptional performance of students in the JKBOSE exams. The GOC praised their achievements and underscored the importance of education in shaping a brighter future for Kashmir.
Sheikh Mudasir’s journey is a powerful testament to resilience and transformation. Once drawn into separatist activities in his youth, Mudasir has now become a guiding force for change in Baramulla. Despite battling a brain tumor and facing ongoing threats, his commitment to education and peace has never wavered. His initiative, GAASH Academy, has proven to be a beacon of hope for the youth of the region, steering them away from extremism and towards a brighter future through education. The success of Mudasir’s vision is clearly reflected in the academy’s remarkable performance in the JK BOSE exams, where several students scored above 90%. Top scorers include Mohd Riyaan (98%), Zainab (98%), and Haider (96%), showcasing not only the students’ hard work but also the academy’s nurturing environment.
These impressive results underscore the effectiveness of GAASH Academy in empowering the youth of Baramulla, turning Mudasir’s vision into a powerful reality that is shaping a positive future for Kashmir.
