Anantnag, Sep 03: ‘INDIA’ will defeat NDA in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and in the upcoming assembly elections in different States, said Congress Working Committee member Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Sunday.
Mir said, “The propaganda unleashed against INDIA won’t change the reality or hide utter failures and anti-people policies of NDA which are responsible for the extreme joblessness, loot of public money and the lust to empower some corporates linked to NDA at the cost of the country’s and public interest.”
He was addressing a joint meeting of public and party workers in Halqa Nagam Kokernag in south Kashmir where he was accorded a rousing ovation after becoming a Member of Congress party’s highest decision-making body – CWC, the party said in a statement.
Addressing the meeting, Mir said, “It is evident that NDA is desperate about the upcoming defeat they are set to face by the INDIA, which represents the aspirations of 1.40 crore public of India. The public has been pushed towards darkness by the ruling dispensation (NDA) at the Centre, they want change. The INDIA alliance will ensure that change for betterment, prosperity and equal development of all Indians.”
“INDIA is not only an alliance, it is the revolution, which is strong enough fully capable of bringing the nation out of the morass, darkness, coercion, vendetta politics unleashed by the NDA for the lust of power,” he said, adding, “Nation awaits change for betterment, economic stability, employment, safety from internal and external threats, etc. For that matter, the INDIA alliance came into being. INDIA feels highly concerned about the assault on parliamentary democracy and other democratic institutions, but it (INDIA) will ensure that these are no longer ruined or used by the NDA for the sake of power or to suppress the genuine voices being raised in the public and national interest.”
The Congress leader said the “desperation and sense of defeat” is visible in NDA. “They are hell-bent upon diverting the attention of the public from real issues and adopt various other nasty measures while trying to bring flawed policies to avoid defeat,” he said while expressing full confidence that INDIA will overcome all the challenges and ensure NDA defeat.
On the occasion, scores of prominent political activists from different parties joined INC, the statement said.
