Pahalgam carnage has united the nation against terrorism and its patrons. Asymmetrical war waged by Pakistan against India has assumed vicious form as it is threatening the lives of innocent people across the nation making them vulnerable. Not only common masses but the security forces deployed in Kashmir from across the length and breadth of the nation have sacrificed their lives to uphold the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the nation. This time people in India are in no mood to leave Pakistan unpunished for its continuous acts of terrorism meant to inflict genocidal attrition that has already displaced lakhs of people from Kashmir. Nation is united and wants the Indian state to punish the patrons of terrorism by imposing heavy cost. So that the enemy thinks twice before inflicting any damage on India and its people. Keeping in view the mood of the nation, New Delhi responded to the Pahalgam carnage by imposing penalties on Pakistan that included putting the Indus Water Treaty (IWT) in abeyance. Besides, it asked the Pakistani national to leave India immediately to send a strong signal signifying that India won’t tolerate Pakistan’s fissiparous tendencies anymore. Ceasefire violations have increased after the Pahalgam carnage. Making it clear that Pakistan won’t relent. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been constantly meeting the top brass of the armed forces and his senior cabinet colleagues. On Tuesday he had a meeting with the National Security Advisor(NSA) Ajit Doval. Security preparedness has been increased to meet any eventuality. In the wake of the emerging security situation the Home Ministry has written to the Chief Secretaries of all states and Union Territories(UTs) on 5th May for conducting the Civil Defence Mock Drill. This is meant to check the overall preparedness of the civil defence mechanisms across India in case the enemy resorts to any misadventure. It is meant to see the capacity of the government mechanism to provide guidance and assistance in case of any emergency. Under Civil Defence Act 1968, it is underlined to protect individuals, organisations, properties and establishments from any hostility of the enemy especially the non-combatants. The nation is on high alert. Pakistan has been crossing the limits by using non-conventional methods to instigate India. Its aim is clear. It wants to destabilise India by creating communal frenzy by injecting subversion. This became amply clear when the Pakistani Army Chief used the two-nation theory and hatred against India to instigate Pakistanis to poison the minds of the new generation. It was no surprise that within days Pahalgam massacre of innocent tourists took place. India has been repeatedly trying to deal in a friendly manner with Pakistan but it has not worked. Instead, Pakistan has taken this otherwise and taken Indian patience for granted. The Prime Minister has already given free hands to the armed forces to deal aptly with the enemy to cut it to size. India cannot continue to give long rope to Pakistan. There is already a national consensus to declare Pakistan a terrorist state. Many groups have been advocating it for a long time. Pakistan has already taken the advantage of the political destabilisation and radicalisation in Bangladesh. It wants to encircle India on Eastern and Western fronts. Not only that it is also using the China card to hold India hostage to its asymmetrical warfare. Besides that it is using the subversive cartels within India as it’s overground workers. In such a situation India needs to respond aptly to this war of attrition that has been imposed on the nation. To defeat the nefarious designs of Pakistan, India stands united at all fronts. Territorial integrity and sovereignty of the nation is non –negotiable.
