Srinagar, Sep 25: J&K circle of India Post launched a cleanliness campaign in Dal Lake, the pride of Srinagar as a part of Swachhta Pakhwada which is being celebrated across the country. Here the cleanliness drive is organised by the staff of postal department of Srinagar Division, GPO and Postmaster of floating post office under the guidance of Col Vinod Kumar, Postmaster General Jammu.
A number of Shikaras decorated with banners with “Clean Dal:Save Dal” are used for collection of used plastic bottles/polythene bags, weeds and other waste from the Dal Lake. Young postal employees are seen holding placards with messages for saving Dal Lake.
Col Vinod said that the main objective of this campaign is to spread awareness among the public about cleanliness. The drive is organised to create a culture of not throwing litter in Dal Lake among member of public as well as tourists to save and protect the Dal Lake.
Campaign was run for around four hours during which lots of weeds, bottles and other garbage was collected and disposed off from Dal Lake.
The drive gained huge support by many persons in general public and tourists also.
Col Vinod said that India Post touches everyones life and will keep spreading culture of cleaning of Dal Lake in future also to make a strong sense for protecting the Dal Lake, the beauty line of this paradise of Earth.
