Jammu, Oct 22: Emphasizing the vital role of scientists and academicians in societal well-being, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, stated that their pursuit of excellence is essential for fostering a healthy society and advancing the nation-building vision.
During the inauguration of the ‘International Conference on Endocrinology, Metabolism and Reproduction: Exploring New Frontiers’ at Jammu University, LG Sinha remarked, “Our research and creation of new knowledge should be dedicated to the benefit of humanity.” He commended India’s significant progress in healthcare research and development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Lt Governor acknowledged the efforts of the Department of Zoology at the University of Jammu and the Indian Society for Comparative Endocrinology in exploring cutting-edge advancements in endocrinology and other critical fields. He urged scientists and researchers to collaborate in harnessing research and innovation to produce groundbreaking discoveries for the prevention and management of chronic lifestyle diseases.
Highlighting India’s emergence as a global leader in healthcare, the Lt Governor noted that under PM Modi’s leadership, the nation has made remarkable strides in healthcare research and development. He praised India’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and its global assistance through the “Vaccine Maitri” initiative.
“The superior research capabilities of India in various sectors are now recognized and appreciated worldwide,” the Lt Governor stated. He emphasized that scientists in both traditional and modern medicine are uniting to address challenges related to lifestyle diseases, mental health, and reproductive health.
At the inaugural session, LG Sinha also shared insights into the socio-economic reforms implemented across various sectors in Jammu and Kashmir over the past few years. He credited Prime Minister Modi for transforming J&K’s destiny through a commitment to peace, job creation, entrepreneurship, sustainable growth, and infrastructure development.
The Lt Governor further praised Jammu University for its leadership in advancing the education sector in the Union Territory.
During the event, he unveiled a bust of Brigadier Rajinder Singh, MVC (Posthumous), a savior of Jammu and Kashmir, and released the abstract book of the conference.
