Jammu May 07: Kavinder Gupta, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former deputy chief minister on Tuesday termed the mass resignation of National Conference (NC) leaders in Kargil a big jolt to the INDIA bloc.
In a statement issued here, Gupta said, “There is no element of surprise in the breaking of this alliance as all the constituents in this amalgam were misfits and passing their time to explore possibilities which might come as surprise gifts or bounties.”
“The mass resignation of NC leaders in Kargil underscores the inherent weaknesses within the INDIA bloc. This development serves as a testament to the transient nature of alliances formed solely for opportunistic gains,” he added.
The senior BJP leader said that while the differences between different parties in the INDIA bloc continued to simmer in the background, there are some entities which are still braving the situation. “It is simply a matter of days when more ‘skeletons’ would tumble out of the aforesaid bloc’s cupboard, akin to the case of the People’s Democratic Party in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
Kavinder asked the people of Ladakh and Kargil not to get confused or swayed going after these “short-lived” and “purposeless galvanisation of poles apart” parties, saying they have the best option in the shape of a nationalist party BJP.
“It is an unchallengeable fact that today only the BJP is competent enough to ensure the country’s progress by leaps and bounds as parties like the constituents of the INDIA bloc are weak and have only one common aim of overpowering each other despite being part and parcel of one amalgam which is harmful to the country in case these parties come to power,” he remarked.
The former deputy CM urged the people of Ladakh to wholeheartedly support the BJP in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls for a stable future for the Union Territory. (KNS)
