“We stand with the people of Kashmir, always”: CRPF DG GP Singh

Pays tribute to the 2001 Parliament attack martyrs   Srinagar, Sept 23:  Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), GP Singh, on Tuesday reaffirmed the Force’s unwavering commitment to the people of Kashmir, stating that the CRPF stands with them in every situation, be it joy or sorrow. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the third edition of the Yashasvini High-Altitude CRPF Bike Expedition 2025 at the iconic Lal Chowk in Srinagar, DG Singh expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Srinagar for their continued support. “I want to thank the people of Srinagar for supporting this initiative and assure them that the CRPF stands with them in both happiness and hardship. Whenever you need us, we will be there for you,” he said. DG GP Singh formally flagged off the expedition, which marks the beginning of a challenging 1,400-km journey across high-altitude terrain. The nine-day expedition features an all-women team of 33 CRPF bikers, who will travel through Khardung La in Ladakh and reach the picturesque Pangong Tso Lake before returning to Srinagar on October 1, 2025. Paying homage to the martyrs of the 2001 Parliament attack, DG Singh stated: “We remember with deep respect the heroes who laid down their lives for the country. Their bravery continues to inspire the nation. It is our solemn duty to uphold their legacy through dedicated service.” He also saluted the recipients of the Ashoka Chakra, India’s highest peacetime gallantry award, noting that their extraordinary courage embodies the spirit of selfless service. “I salute the martyrs and those honoured with the Ashoka Chakra for their exceptional valour,” he said. The CRPF Chief extended his heartfelt congratulations to the women riders, commending their courage and determination. “You are the torchbearers of the CRPF. Your grit and commitment deserve special appreciation. The CRPF stands proudly with you,” he added. He also acknowledged the leadership behind the expedition, including DIG Balav Sharma, Brigadier SP Rai, and DK Singh, who are guiding the bikers through some of the most extreme conditions. “The bikers will face altitudes nearing 18,000 feet, sub-zero temperatures, and tough living conditions. Yet, they march ahead with courage and conviction,” DG Singh stated. Highlighting the symbolic significance of the expedition, DG Singh emphasised that the Yashasvini mission reflects the CRPF’s dedication to internal security, national unity, and women empowerment over the past 66 years. “Flagging off this high-altitude mission from the historic Lal Chowk fills me with immense pride. This journey is not just about physical endurance, but also about resilience, teamwork, and the CRPF’s commitment to serving every citizen, especially the people of Kashmir,” he said. The Yashasvini Bike Expedition is part of the exclusive Mahila Bike Expeditions series, aimed at promoting patriotism, national integration, and testing the physical and mental endurance of CRPF women personnel. The first edition took place in March 2023, covering Delhi to Jagdalpur, while the second traversed Srinagar, Shillong, and Kanyakumari to Kevadia in September 2023. The event was attended by senior CRPF officers, J&K Police officials, and civil administration representatives, including Dr. Anamika Singh, President CWWA, Sundari Yadav, Zonal Head CWWA, Deepak Kumar, ADG (Training) CRPF, Rajesh Kumar, ADG J&K Zone CRPF, and other dignitaries. The launch was marked by vibrant cultural performances, including the Kashmiri folk dance Rouf and a Taekwondo demonstration, showcasing both local tradition and CRPF training excellence. DG CRPF also honoured the Veer Naris and families of martyrs present, assuring them of continued support and timely assistance. The expedition reflects the Force’s dedication to women empowerment, patriotism, and national unity. The riders will carry the National Flag and the CRPF’s message to the nation: “Desh Ke Hum Hain Rakshak”, symbolising their unwavering commitment to duty, courage, and the values of the Force.
